Short Bio:

Dr. Johnson is an early childhood nutritionist in the Department of Pediatrics, UC Denver and has practiced clinically at The Children’s Hospital of Denver in both Nutrition/Growth and Parenting Clinic and in The GoodLIFE Clinic (Pediatric Obesity Clinic). Dr. Johnson’s primary focus is research related to factors that influence the development of children’s food intake and eating patterns. She conducts research on child-feeding practices in homes and child care settings and how caregiver practices influence children’s food preferences, their energy intake patterns and their weight outcome. She is a founding member of the About Feeding Children group—a multi-state consortium of nutrition, human development and child-care professionals. The mission of this group is to identify opportunities for enhancing the mealtime curriculum and environment in child care. Dr. Johnson is also a member of the Colorado LEND faculty and, with this group, conducts research related to nutrition and eating behaviors in children with autism spectrum disorders.
