2. Should children eat everything on their plates?

No!

Encouraging or forcing children to clean their plates overrides their natural ability to self regulate intake of food. When children are forced to clean their plates, adults are telling them they do not know when they are full. Consequently, children will learn to eat past their hunger and fullness, which can contribute to the development of overweight. A better solution is to offer children smaller portions sizes and let them serve themselves.
