Garden symphylans are small, centipede-like arthropods with many legs. They are white and about 3 to 6 mm long with long antennae. These soil inhabitants quickly run from light. Damage occurs when symphylans feed on roots, root hairs, rootlets, or tubers. Damage can occur throughout the growing season. Host plants: beans, peas, potatoes, corn, sugarbeets, small fruits, specialty crops.
