Nutrition information is everywhere! Nutrition sells. After all, everyone eats, so most people are interested in nutrition.

The diet and supplement industries are both a multi billion dollar industries. And where there’s money, the rule is caveat emptor – let the buyer beware.

The credentialed nutrition expert is the registered dietitian. People with advanced degrees in nutrition at universities are also reliable sources. But even these people get their information from somewhere, and that "somewhere" is "the literature".

When professionals talk about "the literature" they are talking about articles in peer reviewed professional journals. This does not include Newsweek or Good Housekeeping,or books that can be purchased in a local bookstore, although respected professionals sometimes contribute to these publications.

The nutrition professional goes to the original source for information on a specific topic – the published studies in the professional journals.
