MISSION:

To engage clothing and textile students in the pursuit of knowledge, interchange of ideas, and dissemination of knowledge through transformational experiences that foster an understanding of self, relationships, and global perspectives; and to employ principles of ethical leadership, collaboration, socially responsible behavior, and service-oriented commitment to advance sustainable communities.

EVENTS:

Project PJ’s – ( February ) Service Learning Project where students make pajamas for juveniles ages newborn – 17 years old to donate to three area organizations/facilities that protect children in situations related to homelessness or domestic violence: CareNet of the Palouse, Sojourner’s Alliance, and Alternatives of Violence of the Palouse.

Prom Fizzle – (March) Premiere Fashion Show/Fundraising Event to support the UI Academic War on Hunger and fund a Clothing, Textiles, and Design Scholarship so UI students can submit fiber/wearable art and target market category designs and attend the international ITAA annual conference if work is accepted.

SIDS Product Development Collaboration – (April) ITAA-UI members are collaborating with the Sleepsound Engineering Product Development Project Group to sew infant sleepwear that contains a monitoring device to help prevent SIDS in newborns.

Fiber/Wearable Art Design Exhibition – (April) ITAA – UI members and the Family and Consumer Sciences Aesthetics class will design/construct wearable art apparel products to submit for juried review by the ITAA Wearable Art/Design Competition Committee and for Exhibition at the University of Idaho Library.
